Growth Types

Node	� Raised ring around the stem where�the petiole meets. Nodes contain everything needed to form new growth or to propagate a new plant!
Offset (or Plantlet)
Peduncle
Petiolar Sheath	Part of the stem.
Petiole	The 'leaf-stem' that connects the leaf blade to the node on the main stem.
prophyll	the first leaf of a branch (or sympodial unit); in Araceae almost always a 2-keeledcataphyll, often confused with cataphyll; cataphyll refers to a particular type of morphology(reduced leaf), prophyll refers to the position of the leaf along a branch.
Pup
Rhizome
Root	Anchors the plant and absorbs water and nutrients.
Runner	A leafless vine with nodes.
Slit
Stem	The main part of the plant that supports the roots and all other growth.
